Michelle Obama to Campaign with Shaheen in NH

Michelle Obama will be lending her new superstar status to Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jeane Shaheen this Thursday. They will be holding a roundtable discussion with working women in Manchester, discussing various issues and concerns that they have.
Shaheen is trying to unseat Republican Senator John Sununu in the upcoming election. Interestingly Shaheen’s husband, Billy Shaheen, was the co-chairman of Hillary Clinton’s New Hampshire campaign. He resigned from the position this last December after making very public statements about Barack Obama’s previous drug use. He said that the Republicans would target him for his previous experimenting with drugs, but it seemed quite likely that he was trying to use that part of Barack’s past for Hillary’s advantage. "It'll be, 'When was the last time? Did you ever give drugs to anyone? Did you sell them to anyone?'" Mr. Shaheen said. "There are so many openings for Republican dirty tricks. It's hard to overcome."
Billy Shaheen apologized for the statements and stressed that they were not authorized by the Clinton campaign.
Now the Shaheens and the Obamas seem to be at a necessary peace. With this and Friday’s grand Unity event, steps are clearly underway to forget the past and to now focus on defeating Republicans rather than themselves.
The Shaheen campaign event will happen at the Radisson Hotel located at 700 Elm Street in Manchester. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required to the event. Tickets can be picked up at the NH Democratic Party office at 379 Elm Street in Manchester.
